Android TV & Google TV IPTV Setup (Shield, Sony, TCL)
Android TV and Google TV are the easiest TVs to set up, because the main IPTV players are right there in Google Play and there's nothing to sideload. This guide covers the Google TV Streamer, Chromecast with Google TV, Nvidia Shield, Onn boxes and TVs from Sony, TCL, Hisense and Philips.

Setup steps for Android TV / Google TV
Step 1: Install TiviMate from Google Play
Open Google Play on the TV (on Google TV: Apps tab → Search for apps), search 'TiviMate IPTV Player' and choose Install. IPTV Smarters Pro is an alternative if you prefer a simpler layout.
Step 2: Start a new playlist
Open TiviMate, choose Add playlist, then select Xtream Codes as the type.
Step 3: Enter the three login fields
Typing on a TV keyboard is slow: on Google TV you can use the Google TV app on your phone as a keyboard and paste from your email.
- Playlist or profile name: any label you'll recognise, such as IPTV Trends
- Username and Password: copy them character for character, since capitals matter
- Server URL: paste the whole address, starting with http:// and ending with the port number
Your welcome email (sent the minute your trial or plan starts) holds four things: Server URL, Username, Password and an M3U link. Not in your inbox? Look in spam or promotions, or ask support to send it again.
Step 4: Confirm and let it index
TiviMate reports how many channels, movies and series it found. Give the playlist a name and press Done; the grid guide builds itself in the background.
Step 5: Match the picture to your TV
On Nvidia Shield and most Google TV devices, turn on match frame rate (Shield: Settings → Device Preferences → Display & Sound → Advanced → Match content frame rate) so sports at 50 or 60 fps look smooth.
Fixes for common Android TV / Google TV problems
Open TiviMate's settings → EPG → Update EPG. The first download of a large guide can take two or three minutes on slower boxes.
The 8 GB Chromecast fills up quickly. Go to Settings → System → Storage, clear cache on apps you don't use, and uninstall rarely used apps. The Google TV Streamer has 32 GB and doesn't have this problem.
Most budget Android boxes connect at 100 Mbps over Ethernet or use 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Switch to 5 GHz Wi-Fi or a cable, and check the speed on the box itself, not your phone.
